The Practice

I view myself as an active participant in guiding my clients out of feeling overwhelmed with life's challenges. I facilitate self-awareness by providing a supportive, nurturing environment with honest and direct feedback. My goal during the therapy hour is for clients to see their barriers through a different perspective and to feel they have the ability to make meaningful changes in their lives to reach their goals. Every client's personal journey is unique and my approach is tailored to fit the specific needs of each client.

My experience lies in working with clients with family and relationship difficulties, trauma, bereavement and loss, stress, depression, anxiety and life transitions.

Appleton, Wisconsin

Kelly Wheeler is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), in practice since 2011. She began her career in the suburbs of Chicago at a nonprofit crisis center, where she provided counseling for individuals, couples, families and groups who had been faced with trauma at some point in their lives. She then worked at a private practice where she used her techniques to help individuals, couples and families through life transitions, decrease their symptomatology and live a more fulfilling and functioning existence.

In Columbus, Ohio, Kelly worked at an outpatient trauma clinic where she worked with many individuals who had been faced with emotional, sexual, physical and psychological trauma. There, Kelly was trained in EMDR and integrates this technique in her current practice, as appropriate.

Kelly is back in her hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin, doing private practice work and partnering with local and national organizations to promote healing and wellness.
